They married in 1959 and were blessed with three children, their son Mark, their daughter Lisa her husband Steve and their two children, Michael and Ashley, their son Johnny and children Erica, Carley, Jake, and their mother Lisa.

J.P. served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953 and received several medals among them, the Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, Army of Occupation Medal (Japan), and UN Service medal. After Korea, J.P. got his pilot license and loved flying.
