LaFleur, Jack H.

Jack H. LaFleur of York. Sadly for all of us who had the pleasure of knowing Jack LaFleur & thus loving him as well, he peacefully departed this earth on 4-19-17.

Jack was born in Philadelphia on August 13, 1920 and raised in Island Heights, NJ. By his 22nd birthday, he was an officer, traveling on the Queen Mary to Europe, serving in WWII and later Korea. Following his military service, he was an engineer, working for General Motors, Boeing and after thirty happy and productive years, retiring from Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM. After his 1985 retirement, he and his wife, Lucy returned to her area of York to be near her family. Lucy was from Stewartstown. She passed away in 1996 and Jack stayed in York, finding a lovely community to make his home.

Among all of us who dearly loved him is the family of his sister, Dorothy Chance; the family of Lucy Lewis, his wife; and the family of Katherine Masimore; his companion. Other loved ones include relatives and friends, near and far. His community where he lived became family and they honored him with a glorious 90th birthday celebration. Everyone there enjoyed seeing Jack working around their lovely grounds, most especially his dear friend, Katie Kursar. Jack saw to it that life was to be enjoyed and with gardening, reading, fine dining and cruising the world, he did just that, along with gathering folks who loved him.

A long and happy life was celebrated on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Calvary United Methodist Church, 11 North Richland Avenue York, PA 17404. Interment will follow in Stewartstown Cemetery. JJHM.com
