James Smith Obituary
Smith, James M.L.

James M.L. Smith passed away peacefully on July 20th, 2016 at the age of 84.

Jim was born in Lubbock, Texas in 1932. After he finished high school, Jim joined the US Air Force and proudly served in England during the Korean War. Soon after leaving the Air Force, he moved to Albuquerque and made it his home where he worked as a civil servant at Kirtland AFB until leaving to follow his dream of being a business owner. Jim's greatest loves were his family, his country, and the many pets he had over the years.

Jim is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Emily, and their children, Wayne Smith of Edmonds, WA, David Smith and wife, Lael of Placitas, NM, their son, Kyle and wife, Danielle, and their sons Bentley and Branson, Kevin and fiancee, Jenny Wells and their children, Shayne, Gage, and Isabella, Carol Smith Fidel and husband, Mark Fidel of Albuquerque, NM, and their son, Josiah.

Our gratitude to the care givers of Vista Sandia, Ambercare Hospice and Presbyterian Hospice, thank you for making Jim's final chapter as pleasant and peaceful as possible, for all of us.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Animal Humane New Mexico or United Service Organizations (USO).

A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 28, 2016, at 2:00 pm at FRENCH - Wyoming, Private burial at Santa Fe National Cemetery will take place at a later date.
