Janet X. Kendrick Schneider Obituary
Schneider, Janet X Kendrick

Janet X Kendrick Schneider died peacefully in her sleep May 31, 2016. In her own words "she has gone on her last adventure!"

Daughter of Alan T. Kendrick and Icel Kyler Kendrick, Janet was born in Glendale, Arizona on November 4 (or was it the 3rd?) 1917. Raised in the Arizona desert, Janet always longed to know what was over the next hill and what it would be like to live there. She graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Home Economics in 1939. In 1945 she met and married Rollin Lenz Schneider (deceased) of Albuquerque. Married for 53 adventurous years, together they raised three children Bruce, Jane and Jill. Janet was a strong and positive influence in the lives of many of her nieces and nephews and the friends of her daughters. She always had a ready ear, ready advice and a place for everyone at her kitchen table. Active with the International Students Program at UNM, she made two lifelong friends of Thirapan Sattabansuk her "son" from Thailand and Jyotindra Bhavsar her "son" from India. She also counted Rita "Poncho" and Warren Kretzmeier of Fritch, TX, and Nancy Schneider Dover as valued members of the family. A firm believer in the values of Boy and Girl Scouts she served as a Cub Scout leader for Bruce's Cub Scout Pack and as Troop leader for Girl Scout Troop 13 in Albuquerque. Janet was a member of "The Club", a circle of sister- in- laws, their sisters and their -sister- in laws who met once a month for "girl talk & goodies' from 1945 to 2004.

Janet is survived by her three children Bruce (married to Carol Ann Parent, deceased) and their children David Schneider, Matthew Schneider and his wife Kyra, and Jessica Dixon and her husband Ethan Dixon. Jane Stauduhar (married to Dick Stauduhar, deceased) and Jill Schneider-Taylor (married to Loren O. Taylor, deceased.) Janet was the proud great grandmother of Ryan and Andrew Schneider of NC, Asher, Dexter and Jasper Dixon of Albuquerque and Gabriel Schneider, Steve and Stephanie Martinez of Moreno Valley, CA. She also considered Neoma Kretzmeier of AZ to be an honorary granddaughter.

There will be no formal funeral service for Janet who hated funerals but there will be a Celebration of her life with details to be announced later.

If you wish to remember Janet please contribute to the Girl Scouts, The Rio Grande Nature Center , The Albuquerque Bio Park or by voting for Gary Johnson or an honorable maverick of your choice. Our thanks go to the dedicated, gentle people at Ambercare Hospice and St Catherine's Nursing Home who cared for Janet. Please add your memories of Janet to the online guest book at www.danielsfuneral.com. And make today an ADVENTURE!
