She was born October 27, 1950 in Atlanta, Georgia to Lancing W. Cook and Rita Jamharian.

Janice had a Master's Degree in Education and taught Special Education for severely handicapped children. Her methods were highly admired and innovative which had many observing and learning from her work to better the lives of children. She was President of the non-profit Armenian Cultural Association, and was a beloved member of the community following in the footsteps of her mother Rita.

Janice was diagnosed with ALS in 1989, and in 1994 received a dual diagnosis of ALS and MS. She never gave up and fought through every illness thrown her way. She never saw herself as handicapped and only asked for help when she really needed it.

Her children ask in lieu of flowers a donation to the Armenian Church of Albuquerque be made in her name, information can be given upon request by email to [email protected]
