On December 7, 2016 surrounded by her family, Jo Ann Gonzales Duran, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and friend to many was called home to the arms of Our Lord Jesus Christ and reunited with her beloved husband Bernie Duran and sons, Bernie Anthony, Andrew, and Mark Duran, her parents Donaciano and Mable Catanach Gonzales, Brothers, Phillip and Alfred Gonzales, Sister in law Adela Gonzales and special Niece Annette Gonzales who all preceded her in death. Born on May 3, 1934, JoAnn was devoted to Our Blessed Mother and the Heavenly Saints and holds a special place in the hearts and prayers of Mother Rose and the Carmelite Sisters. She was loving and generous with everyone she met and her home was open to many who grew up there. Christmas Eve at the Duran's was always a celebration with the homemade tamales, biscochitos , posole and red enchiladas she prepared for family and visitors. While raising her family, she and her husband ran the coffee shops at Los Alamos Lab in the 80's and then at the Runnels Building in the early 90's where she was well known for her cooking especially her New Mexican cuisine and favorite of the George Gonzales family at KSWV Radio Station.

She is survived by her loving children, Carmella Romero and husband Leonard, Matthew, Joseph, Paul and wife Michelle and Greg Duran and daughter-in-law Joy Trujillo. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Gabriel Romero and wife Janett, Nicholas Romero and wife Jessica, Sarah Miller and husband Nick, Kayleigh (Elliott), Justin, Dominic,Noah,Adam, and Evan Duran. Great Grand Children, Maddie, Colton and Ryan Miller, Jeremiah Duran, Kayden and Olivia Romero. She loved and cherished her brothers and sisters, Carlos, Don and Eddie Gonzales, Gloria Martinez and husband Steven, Bernadette Montoya and husband Bob, Mabel Specht and husband Michael. She also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, God Children (Jason Martinez) and cousins who loved her immensely and her Compadres Edna and Ben Lara. She also leaves behind the wonderful staff and friends she met at St. Catherine (Bear Canyon) Health Care in Albuquerque where she lived and enjoyed her last years.

Rosary will take place on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 9:00am at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi, with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00. Interment will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on Friday, December 16, 2016 at 12:45pm.
