Joan volunteered many hours to the Right to Life of New Mexico, loved to play golf and bridge and thoroughly appreciated the companionship of her dogs.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Col. Robert L. Herman, (Ret.).

Joan is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law; Rita Tonner (William), Marguerite A. Herman (George E. Powers, Jr.) and Maud Thorp (Kevin); eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be held at the Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church, 2621 Vermont St. NE, Albuquerque, Spring 2017.
