Joan Taylor Beattie-Wilson Obituary
Beattie-Wilson, Joan Taylor

Born: Washington, DC, September 30th, 1926

Died: Albuquerque, New Mexico, January 23rd, 2016

Our mother lived a long and meaningful life, which was full of love both given and received, guided by the giving of compassion and respect for everyone no matter their station in life, surrounded by the beauty of human voice raised in song and driven by a strong need to advocate for others.

She was raised during the Great Depression and came of age during World War II, which no doubt toughened her spirit for the many challenges she encountered and overcame in her lifetime. In the end, she could not overcome the challenge and finality of old age, even though she gave it a heckuva run for its money.

Her strong Christian faith sustained her throughout her life and gave special comfort to her in her last months on earth and also gave comfort to those of us who witnessed those months. All of us learned a wonderful lesson in gratitude and grace from this beautiful soul, who continually gave thanks for all that she had been blessed with even as she struggled with failing health and memory. And for that lesson, mom, along with the many others imparted to us over the years, we are grateful.

You are missed.

Joan is survived by her daughter Lisa Wilson and partner Richard Calderazzo; son Alan Wilson and wife Sue Rzendzian; grandson Nathan Wilson; sister-in-law Joan Wilson; nephews David and Aaron Wilson; niece Linda Davidson; and nephews Bob, John and David Beattie.

A memorial service will be held at 4PM on Saturday, January 30th at Sombra del Monte Christian Church, 2525 Vermont NE, Albuquerque, NM.
