Joe Archibeque Obituary
Archibeque, Joe

Joe Archibeque, passed away January 28, 2016 surrounded by friends and family. Born in Bernalillo, NM on September 3, 1940, Joe was a loving husband, dad, papa, brother, uncle, and friend.

He was preceded in death by parents, Pantaleon and Andreita Archibeque, brother Emiterio, and parents-in-law Cresenciano and Merlinda Gurule.

Joe leaves a caring wife of 53 years, Florence. They trusted and respected one another; and for this, there are no regrets. Joe could not have asked for better sons, Joseph and Steve. His grandchildren, Santino and Andrea, great-grandchildren Santino (Boo) Jr., and niece Michaela, whom he took care of since she was six months old; Uncle Joe loved you like his own granddaughter. Joe had the love and support of his brothers Jake (Lizzie), Maurice (Helen), Clemente (Julia), Jerry (Lena), sister-in-laws Antonia, Beatrice, Sadie, and Juanita, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Joe was a graduate and multi-sport athlete at Our Lady of Sorrows High School. He later retired from Duke City Lumber. He played baseball for the Bernalillo Merchants, and went on to play softball for "Los Viejos" until he was 57 years young. Joe coached both of his sons through little league. He always said the hardest and most enjoyable coaching job was his wife's softball team, the "Turtles!" Joe was a diehard Steelers, Yankees, Celtics, and UNM Lobo fan! He loved to cheer his girls from the Albuquerque Affliction softball team.

His family would like to thank the staff and doctors at UNM and Presbyterian Cancer Centers and Amber Care Hospice. During his journey of life, the Lord blessed us with Joe and all the memories he created and left with us.

A Rosary will be held February 3, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. A funeral Mass will take place on February 4, 2016, at Nativity Church, with burial to follow immediately at Sandia Memorial Gardens, 9500 San Pedro Dr. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87113.
