Joe C.Perea

1928-2018



Joe C. Perea, age 89, a resident of Valencia, NM, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 after a brief illness.

He was a dedicated member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and looked forward to the annual camp meetings.

Joe retired after proudly serving 20 years in the military and being stationed all over the world. He loved music and played many different instruments. Joe also loved watching and visiting with people. He will be remembered as sitting on the bench in front of Albertson's with music playing on his ipad and visiting with people who went by or sat to chat with him.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Anastacio and Julianita Perea; sisters, Juanita Laumbach, Lola Bartlett, Faustina Vigil and Beatrice Perea; brothers, Gabriel, Robert and Ferminio; and granddaughter, Roberta.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Merlinda; sons, David (Maria), and Jimmy; daughters, Patricia Garcia (Richard), and Carol; grandchildren, David J., Julie, Jason, and Jarod Perea; great grandchildren, Carlos, Nathaniel, Alyna, Serena, David C., Logan, Mariah and Andres; sisters in-law, Oralia, Clarita, Mabel, Reina (Willie), Bernie (Paul)and Laura (Marco). He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

All services will on be held at the Valencia Seventh Day Adventist Church on Wednesday, January 10, 2018. A viewing will begin at 9:00 a.m., with a funeral service to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Seventh Day Adventist Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, David J. Julie, Jason, Jarod, Nathaniel and David. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Apodaca and Timo Chacon.

The family would like to give a sincere thank you to Joe Apodaca for always taking him to church.
