CMSgt Joe Coonrod (USAF Ret.) passed away 12/7/16 to the gentle strains of Silent Night and now sleeps in heavenly peace in the arms of his Savior. Born

12/13/32 and raised in Manhattan, Kansas, he served with honor and integrity in the Air Force for over 27 years.

Joe was stationed at bases throughout the US, in Canada, Germany, and Japan where he and his wife raised their 3 children. He adopted Albuquerque, NM as his retirement home and worked at GTE Lenkurt/Siemens until his second retirement. He then volunteered at Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church; enjoyed camping and volunteering through various organizations, including Good Sams and Computer Sams; loved his 5 grandchildren; enjoyed jeeping in his heart place in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado were he also supported various running events; and traveled in his motor home to visit family and the many friends he'd made over the years.

After the passing of Winnie, his beloved wife of 45 years, he remarried and was blessed with 14 years with his current wife, Norma, who survives him. He is also survived by his children, Janet (Brian) Crowley of Brookfield, WI; Kurt (Kelly) and Paul (Julie) Coonrod of Albuquerque; his step-daughters, Pamela (Glen) Zickert of Santa Maria, CA and Anne (Kenny) Scherado of Las Vegas, NV; his grandchildren Jason (Julianna) and Aaron Crowley of Wisconsin, and Alyssa (Josh Goss) and Jessica Coonrod of Albuquerque; as well as two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Emma Crowley, in Wisconsin. Joe leaves behind other loved family, including Norma's extended family, and many special friends who were like family. In addition to Winnie, he was recently preceded in death by his oldest grandson, Kevin Crowley.
