John Michael O'Connell Obituary
O'Connell, John Michael

John Michael O'Connell, 71, our beloved husband, father and grandfather, left us peacefully on December 25, 2015 at home. He was preceded by his mother, Millie O'Connell and is survived by his wife Priscilla O'Connell; daughters Jennifer O'Connell and Carey Rose O'Connell; son John Michael O'Connell Junior; and his granddaughter Lucia Rose Thomas.

John loved playing sports and was a tremendous athlete in basketball, football and baseball throughout his time in high school and junior college. He is in the St. Mary's High School Hall of Fame for his excellence in basketball. John joined the U.S. Army and honorably served in Vietnam from 1969 to 1971. Moving from Colorado to New Mexico in 1980 John lived and worked in Albuquerque and found great joy coaching youth athletics in baseball at the Mile High Little League and basketball through the A.Y.B.L program and was an avid Denver Bronco fan. He truly loved taking his family out to explore and hike in New Mexico and cherished his time living in the Land of Enchantment.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Rosary at 10:30 AM that will be be immediately followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM on January 5, 2016 at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 815 Guaymas Pl.
