Jonathon Matthew Ryan

Jonathon Matthew Ryan was called home by our heavenly father on September 18, 2017. A celebration of life and love was held at Russian Jack Springs Park with close friends and family on September 23, 2017.

John Luke, as he preferred to be called, was born on June 5, 1999 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and lived in Homer, NY, Aspen, CO, and most recently Anchorage, AK. John Luke excelled in sports and was a great teammate. While at Albuquerque High School, John Luke played football and baseball, and competed in JROTC and DECA events. He loved wearing the bulldog green, and could always be found in cowboy boots and his black beaver-felt cowboy hat. He crewed balloons with his mother and sister, always working hard to get them into the air and back onto the ground.

After moving to Anchorage in 2015, John Luke continued to play baseball and followed his heart into the outdoors, exploring the wilds of Alaska in his truck, or mobbing the trails on four-wheelers and snow machines. He loved casting his fly rod into the rivers and catching rainbows, or just driving his truck and listening to music. John Luke graduated from South Anchorage High School in May 2017.

John Luke loved the outdoors, dirt bikes, trucks, McDonald's, and most of all, his family and friends. Those who knew Jonathon know he had a caring heart and willingness to help anyone in their time of need. Even if it meant a late night run to pull a stranger's truck out of a mud-hole. His ear-to-ear smile could brighten even the darkest days. John Luke cherished his mother and sister.

John Luke is survived by his parents Jennifer and Andrew Fraiser, Jake Ryan, sister Madyson Ryan, and his Nana Kami, as well as numerous grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. All of them had a special bond with Jonathon, and remember the handsome young man with a beautiful heart and laughter filled with life.

Jonathon Matthew Ryan is with us today, the beauty of his life rippling outwards, touching and inspiring those who were lucky to have known and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to the Jonathon Ryan Memorial Fund at Wells Fargo Bank, Account# 1753050200.
