Joseph Griego, age 74, a resident of Capitan, NM, was called home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, May 3, 2016. He was a beloved and loving husband of 52 years of marriage to Evangeline Sanchez Griego. They were blessed with seven children and many grandchildren and great grandchildren that called him, "Tata Joe" they loved him and respected him dearly. Joseph (Joe) was known for his strong belief in Christ Jesus Our Lord. He was an iron worker for 20 years and loved welding and building things. Joseph was involved in building the Tramway bridge, UNM Arena known as the "Pit", Rio Grande Gorge bridge in Taos, NM, and Winrock Center. We will always remember Dad from his strong hands; "Daddy's Hands". He was also a correctional officer at the Los Lunas Correctional Center. Joseph was an avid and excellent horseman and our lives revolved around rodeos and long trail rides in the mountains. He loved the outdoors and hunting was his passion we have so many wonderful memories to hold on to and comfort us until we meet again in heaven. Tell Jesus to come quickly and please save a place for us at the table, we will love and miss you immensely. You will never be forgotten. You are in our hearts always and forever. Dad, you are our "hero".

He is preceded in death by parents, Domicindo and Teofila Griego; sister, Alice Brod.

Joseph is survived by loving wife, Evangeline Griego; sons, Dwayne and wife Kim, Joseph, David and wife Diana, Martin and wife Lorena, Brian and wife Melissa; daughters, Nadine Griego, Karen Peralta and husband Marty; sisters, Kathy Chavez and husband Eddie, Lorraine Griego; brother-in-law Chuck Brod; 17 grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; and one great-grandson on the way.

All services will be held at Calvary Chapel on Friday, May 6, 2016. A Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Celebrated of Life at 11:00 a.m. Please sign Joseph's online tribute at
