Joseph Robert (Bob) Shaw

It is with deep and heavy sadness that we announce the death of Joseph Robert Shaw, who peacefully passed on February 11, 2018. Bob was born on June 11, 1930 in Baltimore, Maryland to J.R. Shaw Sr. and Mary Grace Cummings, the first of their eight children. Bob grew up in Baltimore and graduated from Loyola University in 1952 with a degree in business and a major in accounting. Within a few weeks, he was accepted into an aviation cadet program for the U.S. Air Force and stationed to a pilot training program at Marana AFB, Marana Arizona. It was there that he met Dolly Marie Pearson, the girl who was to become his bride and lifelong love. They were married on September 5, 1943. Bob was the pilot of a B-29 during the Korean War. He retired from the service and moved to Tucson, Arizona where he spent the next 28 years raising his four children: Michael Robert, Sharon Marie, Susan Lynn and finally Nancy Louise. He was a man with a big personality. He was charming and thoroughly enjoyed telling a joke. We will all remember and laugh about his clever sense of humor. He was strong in body, spirit and commitment, especially when it came to his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He traveled extensively with his wife and enriched his family with endless stories of their travels.

In 2017, Dolly passed away after celebrating 64 wonderful years of marriage. Life without Dolly was unimaginable and five short months later Bob died of a broken heart.

He leaves a legacy that will miss him terribly: his children, Michael and his wife Lynn; Sharon and her husband Stan Eastin; Susan and her husband Robert Conklin; and Nancy and her husband, David Baucom. His grandchildren, Casey Stone, his wife Jennifer and their children Robby, Rylee and Ally; Kelly Gunn, her husband Jimmy and their children Jared, Tyler, Hanna and Ryan; Katie Medina, her husband Adrian and their children Lucy, Jaxson and Dalton; Robert Conklin, his wife Maria and their children Tomas, Alfredo and little Bobby; Eric Conklin, his wife Debby and their daughter Elizabeth; Laura Conklin; Kyle Baucom, his wife Ashley and their daughter Jade; Kaylee Baucom; Dylan Shaw and his wife Susan; Andrew Shaw and his wife Samantha; will miss him also.

Farewell Dad!! You Did a Great job!!!!

Interment alongside his wife will take place at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico, with full military honors.
