Montgomery, Julia Blanche

Julia Blanche Montgomery was born June 25, 1927, in Springfield, Missouri and passed away August 13, 2016, in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the age of 89.

After her schooling in Springfield she married Bill Fanning and they brought their children, Cay and Ken, to Albuquerque in 1954. She was very active in her children's lives being a Brownie leader, a Girl Scout leader, and a Boy Scout leader as well as taking them to dance and drum lessons. Later she was president of the Mental Health Association and was instrumental in organizing the Suicide Prevention Hot Line. Julie enjoyed playing the violin and sat second chair in the Albuquerque symphony orchestra. Later in life she married Hank Penley and they traveled the world together. Her hobbies included writing, sewing, painting, reading, playing bridge and doing needlepoint. She was a wonderfully talented woman with a great sense of humor and will be sorely missed by her friends and family.

She is survived by her daughter, Cay and husband Van Jansonius; Ken Fanning and wife Iris; three grandchildren Jennifer, Heather, and Sean as well as two great grandchildren Oliver and Adrian.
