Wylie, Julie Anne

Julie Anne Wylie, age 55, lost her courageous 1.5 year battle against pancreatic cancer early Sunday morning May 28, 2017.

Growing up in Denver, CO, Julie graduated from Alameda High School. She then attended University of Colorado at Boulder where she received a bachelor's degree in accounting. Through her hard work & determination she studied day & night, including on bus rides to work & passed all 4 parts of the CPA exam on the 1st try! She went on to teach the Becker CPA Exam Review, work for Arthur Andersen CPA firm from 1985-1987 & then became controller of Centex Homes of NM from 1987-1994.

On February 28th, 1987, she married the love of her life, Patrick Wylie. In the following years she had three loving kids, Jennifer Wylie, Alexis Kaula, and Jesse Wylie. Always prioritizing her family first, she put her accounting career on hold and became a full time superhero mom. Determined to be involved in her children's lives, she was everything from a PTA volunteer, sports team mom, football/choir/swim team treasurer, and so much more for the 24 years her children were in school. She would even help her kids' teachers by teaching extra math classes for the students!

Julie loved to travel and had an insatiable love for history. She embarked on trips not only around the United States but also overseas. Some of her most memorable excursions included a trip to Europe to visit Alexis who was studying abroad, trips to the cabin and lake, and numerous vacations to Disney World. She even pulled her children out of school for 3 months to homeschool them while traveling across the country in the RV and visiting almost every major historical site in the U.S.

Julie also had a passion for exercising. She loved water skiing, snow skiing, swimming & running. For her 40th birthday, she successfully ran the Rock'n'Roll Marathon in San Diego, CA. She was quite the social butterfly & enjoyed spending time with her book club as well as her many good friends & neighbors. There was nothing she in enjoyed more than sitting out by the fire at her house in the mountains chatting & laughing with family & friends.

In 2012, when her kids had all left for college, she returned to work for H&R Block and quickly rose through the ranks becoming an instructor, office manager, and master tax advisor. In 2015, she joined Fidel, Peiner, and Michnovic.. Always aiming to use her talents to help others, she touched the lives of so many. Her strength and spirit were an inspiration to us all. Her kindness and warmth will never be forgotten.

She is survived by her mother, Nancy Bane, and brother, Dean Beyer. She is preceded by her father, Gerald Beyer, and brother, Steven Beyer.

Prayer services & burial will be held on Sat., June 17th starting at 8am at Gate of Heaven Cemetery & Mausoleum Chapel, 7999 Wyoming NE, Alb, 87109. There will be a reception following from 10am-12pm at Canyon Club at Four Hills, 911 4 Hills Rd SE, Alb, NM 87123.

Julie felt strongly that clinical trials will lead to the finding of a cure for pancreatic cancer. Thus, memorial contributions can be made to HonorHealth (where Julie was treated over the past 1.5 years), Project Purple, or the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
