Kathleen Rich Obituary
Kathleen Hall Rich

Kathleen Hall Rich passed away quietly on December 18, 2017 at the age of 78 years, due to complications of Parkinson's disease.

Kathleen was born in El Paso, TX. Her parents, Richard and Ruth Hall of Albuquerque, who, along with her sisters, Cornelia Hinton of Albuquerque and Jeanette Perlman of Livermore, CA, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, John, of Albuquerque; along with her daughter, Susan Crothers and son-in-law, Dean, of Albuquerque; her son, John Nathan Rich and daughter-in-law, Eileen of Ann Arbor, MI; and her son, Daniel Rich and daughter-in-law, Kelly of Granite Bay, CA. She is also survived by nine grandchildren.

Kathleen grew up in Albuquerque, attending Lew Wallace Elementary School, Washington Junior High School, and Albuquerque High School. She went on to attend Stephens College in Columbia, MO, and subsequently attended and graduated from the University of New Mexico, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.

She became a public school elementary school teacher after college, paused to raise three children, and then resumed her elementary school teaching career. Her school teaching spanned four states: California, New Mexico, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. She excelled as a teacher and took pride in making learning an exciting experience.

Over the years Kathleen retained her passion for music. She was an accomplished pianist. She sang in choirs and choruses. She valued the many times she was able to attend the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. She also enriched her elementary classes with a variety of music.

Kathleen was a member of the Junior League of Albuquerque. She has been a long time member of the Episcopal Cathedral of St. John, and served on St. John's vestry in the capacity of Junior Warden.

Kathleen will be remembered by her many friends across the country for her sense of humor and her dedication to her family.
