Kenneth P. Thompson, a well-respected businessman and commercial masonry contractor passed away April 30, 2017.

He was born May 27, 1930 in Keene, TX at his grandmother's house.

Kenneth came to Albuquerque in 1958 as the masonry superintendent to build the iconic Western Skies Hotel and remained here to build a successful masonry business as well as a career as an entrepreneur in the areas of real estate, block manufacturing, farming/ranching and gas/oil investments.

Kenneth was deeply involved in the business community. He served as vice-president for the Masonry Contractors Association of America. He was on the board of directors for the Laborers Trust Fund, was named to the contractors licensing board under Governor Gary Carruthers and held many other leadership positions. He was a long time member of the New Mexico Amigos and traveled extensively with the state's governors to promote industry and business in New Mexico. He participated in the National Association of Royalty Owners (NARO) and enjoyed advising and mentoring many businessmen and women over the years.

Kenneth is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Juanita Thompson; daughter, Renee Sensabaugh and her husband, Lane; grandchildren, Nick Masker and wife, Nicole, and Will Masker. He also leaves behind great-grandson, Brodie and a great-granddaughter, due in September. His brother, Dr. Richard Thompson also survives him.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH â€" University. The Funeral Service will be Thursday, May 4, 2017, 11:30 a.m. at FRENCH â€" University. Graveside Services will be Monday, May 8, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at Keene Cemetery in Keene, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Kenneth's name to Southwestern Adventist University Capital Fund, 100 W. Hillcrest Street, Keene, Texas 76059.
