L. Dianne Murray Obituary
Murray, L. Dianne

April 29, 1945 -

March 10, 2016

Dianne Murray passed away at home on March 10, 2016 with her son by her side. She was 70, but never looked her age. On her 60th birthday her daughter wrote a note, "To my mother who is more beautiful at 60 than 40!"

Luwilla Dianne Fowler was born in Pampa, TX. She spent her early years in West Texas when her dad worked for Gulf Oil. As "Ms. Levelland" she twirled a baton for her talent. Dianne graduated from Texas Tech in 1965 earning her Bachelor of Science in Education at the age of 20. She started teaching in Texas in 1965. In 1974, she earned her Master's in Education. She married William "Scott" Murray in 1968 in Langley AFB, Virginia. As an Air Force spouse she lived in Texas, the Azores, California, Utah and New Mexico. Finally, they settled in Albuquerque, N.M. and she taught there for 25 years. She retired from APS in 1999 and moved to San Marcos, TX. She spent her retirement years as a devoted caretaker for Scott. Dianne was a yoga lover, a gourmet cook, a trip taking Texas Mimi, a UT basketball fan (sorry Lobos) and an avid shopper. Our last family trip was a cruise for her oldest granddaughter's high school graduation. This picture was celebrating her 70th birthday on the cruise!

She loved Willie Nelson and she finally checked "seeing Willie in concert" off her bucket list…as she looks down on us she is singing…"Blue skies looking at me, Nothing but blue skies do I see" She is in heaven with Scott who can walk again!

Memories will live on with her son, Matt Murray and his wife Lisa of Darien, CT., their children: Julia and R.J. and daughter, Ashley Brid and her husband Alex of Burke, VA., their children: Kennedy and Carley and Princess Bella.

There will be a funeral service at St. Mark's Episcopal Church on May 14, 2016 at 1:00 pm in San Marcos, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to: Friends of the San Marcos Library, 625 E. Hopkins St, San Marcos, TX 78666. Please write "Dianne Murray" in the "For" line as all of her donations will be used for children's programming.
