Laura A. Gilbert

Laura Ashleigh Gilbert passed on January 22, 2018, from complications of Ogilvie's syndrome.

Born in 1977 in Spokane, Washington, she moved to Albuquerque in 1977.

Despite her physical limitations, Laura lived an active life with horseback, bowling, cruises, travel to the major theme parks, and paragliding. She lettered in art at Manzano High School and sold many paintings.

Thanks to the huge community which supported and encouraged her, special education workers, physical, speech and art and massage therapists and especially the Medically Fragile Team which provided aides and nurses for 24 years. We also are grateful to the Presbyterian Hospice team.

She is survived by her mother, Cynthia Gilbert Booth; her stepfather, John W. Booth; her father, Larry Gilbert and his wife, Tahmina Shalizi; and her grandmother, Dorothy Wilkinson McKnight.

An open house will follow in the Spring.
