Lynes, Lela A.

Lela A. Lynes, 95, passed away Tuesday after a brief illness.

Born in Detroit in 1920, she attended Wayne State and Univ. of Michigan. She moved to San Francisco where she met the love of her life, Robert Lynes, They moved to Albuquerque in 1950, to start a family. He passed away in 1969 and she returned to her career as an EEG technician.

She was devoted to her children, active in their school activities, organized the PTA in a new school and was a Girl Scout leader. She loved gourmet cooking and even in her 80s was hosting large dinner parties. She had a green thumb, growing prize winning roses and bountiful vegetables; and was a longtime member of the Rose Society. She was always active in the community, serving on the board of the Museum of Albuquerque, volunteering at the Albuquerque Garden Center, the Opera Guild, The Little Theater and on the Juvenile Detention Home Advisory Board. She was a longtime member of the AAUW and played bridge regularly, even into her 90's. She loved reading, sewing, music, art and New Mexican culture.

She is survived by her children, John, Jim and Judy; her daughter-in-law Linda, grandchildren Lindsay and Jillian and great-granddaughter Eleanor; her half-sister Joyce, niece Sheryl and nephew Robert.
