Apodaca, Leonard (Nardo)



Leonard Apodaca, 92, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2017 at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Denver, CO. Born November 6, 1924 a New Mexico native living in Albuquerque most of his life, Nardo was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Theresa (Lopez). He is survived by his children Robert Apodaca, Patty Scott, Len Apodaca, Theresa Lanctot; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and sisters, Dolores Church and Lutgarda Gonzales.

Nardo was a plumber working with his family at Apodaca Plumbing, then Wagner Plumbing and his business, Leonard's Plumbing. He performed residential plumbing crawling under houses leaving knives and pipes.

A Staff Sergeant (Ap) in the 127th Infantry Regiment in WWII, he was awarded a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was devoted to his family and an active member of St. Anne's Catholic Church.

The family is thankful to the Veterans Hospice Care in Denver for their exceptional care. Leonard dealt with various illnesses yet never slowing down, fighting to the end. His family is grateful to his caregivers for their loving and devoted care.

Leonard's Life Celebration will begin at St. Anne's Church with a rosary Sunday 6/25 at7:00 PM, mass Monday 6/26 at 8:00 AM, followed with burial at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe at 10:30 AM. If you wish to attend, arrive at the entrance to the cemetery ten minutes prior for a procession.
