Hieronymus, LeRoy Vernon

LeRoy Vernon Hieronymus. Services for LeRoy Vernon Hieronymus are to be held at the First Baptist Church of Belen, 401 Becker Ave. on Saturday the 30th of July, 2016 at 1:00pm. The services are to celebrate the reunion of LeRoy with his wife of 67 years, Lizzie May, in the arms of their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

LeRoy was born in Rushville, Nebraska on December 30, 1928 and passed away Friday, July 22, 2016. The Family moved to eastern Colorado. He met and later married Lizzie May Robertson on August 12, 1947, in Clayton, New Mexico. To this union three children were born, Rhydonia Jean, Lola Marlene and Ronald LeRoy.

LeRoy and family moved out of Albuquerque to their present home in Los Chavez in 1958. LeRoy continued working as a carpenter with Underwood and Testman Company in Albuquerque. He later became an independent contractor working on Sandia National Laboratory contracts. LeRoy and May bought the Little Creel Lodge in Chama, New Mexico around 1987. They and their families loved the area and enjoyed their time at the Lodge.

LeRoy was an ordained deacon serving in area Southern Baptist Churches. He was a Sunday school teacher and led his family in church attendance and gave them opportunity to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

LeRoy loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. His favorite places to hunt were in Southwest New Mexico. Trout fishing, deer and elk hunting were many of the things he loved to do with family.

LeRoy was preceded in death by his wife Lizzie May; his parents James Theodore and Clara M. Hieronymus; his sister Mildred and a brother Donald Romane.

He is survived by his children, Rhydonia and husband Allen, Marlene and husband Jerry, Ron and wife Sheryl; brother, Johnny; sisters, Mary and husband Rex, Mable and husband Raymond and Una; brother in-law, Howard Robertson and sister in-law Alma Robertson; grandchildren, Doneen and husband Kevin, Shane and wife Shauncey, Julie, Colby, Brandon and Kim; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Bristol, Brody, Triston, Robbie, Marine Corps Sergeant Swade Wright and Sydnee.

Graveside services will be held at a later date in T or C, NM at the family plot in the Hot Springs Cemetery. In celebration of LeRoy's life the family requests that memorial donations be made to First Baptist Church of Belen, Chest of Joash, P.O. Box 23, Belen, NM 87002.
