Mrs. Linda Sappenfield (nee Chard, Huffman), of Farmington NM, passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at the age of 63. Linda was born to parents William and Muriel Chard on July 14, 1953 in Hampton, Virginia. She grew up with two brothers, William and Roger and graduated from Pembroke High School in Hampton, VA. In 1971, she married Charles Huffman and had four children. She married again on June 8, 1991 to Duane Sappenfield. In 1990 she graduated with a Bachelor's of Science of Education degree in Psychology and Special Education from University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Shortly, thereafter, she began her teaching career as a Special Education teacher at Jefferson Middle school in Albuquerque, NM before taking a permanent position at Truman Middle School. In 1993 she and her family relocated to Farmington New Mexico where she continued her teaching career occupying various positions with the Farmington School District. Her passion for education lead her to earn her Master's Degree in Education Administration in 2001 from New Mexico State University and ultimately lead to a fulfilling and dedicated career in Special Education in Farmington, NM. Linda taught Special Education at Hermosa Junior High and was a facilitator at the Exceptional Programs Office for Farmington Municipal School District until her retirement in 2010. Her passion for children, animals and nature never wavered as she was a longtime supporter of and the Make a Wish Foundation. Linda adored her three dogs, Toby, Princess Tulah and Jewel who brought her immeasurable comfort and joy during her final days. She loved reading books, going to movies, enjoying the outdoors, traveling with her husband and visiting her children and grandchildren whenever possible. She was loving, charismatic, intelligent and creative soul and will be deeply missed. Linda is survived by her husband Duane Sappenfield, her son, Michael (Audrey) Huffman, her daughters Christy Huffman, Jennifer (Emily Duke) Huffman and Julie (Mark Hughes) Huffman, her sister Jean Pearce, her brother Roger Chard, and her two grandchildren whom she cherished, Tristan and Tyler Huffman. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Muriel Chard, and her older brother William Chard. In Lieu of flowers please make a donation in Linda's name to . A Memorial service will take place on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the All Saints Lutheran Church on the corner of Paseo Del Norte and Eagle Ranch in Albuquerque, N.M.
