Lisa Lynn Horne Obituary
Horne, Lisa Lynn

Lisa Horne, age 57, passed peacefully in her home in Rio Rancho with her long-term partner by her side on April 2, 2016. She is remembered for her deep love of life, partner, family, and friends; enduring faith in God and people; her humor; authenticity and generosity; a committed and compassionate nursing career in behavioral health; long-standing service in dog rescue; and her indomitable spirit in living with the advancing disabilities of Chronic Neurologic Lyme Disease and its effects.

Born on October 6, 1958 in Little Rock, Arkansas, Lisa moved with her family to her home town of Enid, Oklahoma in 1963 where she lived an adventuresome life surrounded by family and friends. After completing a nursing degree from Northwestern Oklahoma University in 1988, she moved to Dallas to start her nursing career in behavioral health at Presbyterian Hospital. 1990 brought a move to Albuquerque, NM where she continued her nursing career in behavioral health at UNM (1990-92), and then a ten-year term with Lovelace Behavioral Health. She met the love of her life in 1994, and they moved to Rio Rancho, NM in 1996 where they made their home surrounded by family, friends, and many four-legged rescues. She was forced into early retirement from nursing due to the severe and debilitating effects of Chronic Neurologic Lyme Disease in 2002. In the midst of her long illness Lisa was the Southwest Italian Spinone Rescue Coordinator for many years, supporter of Brussel's Griffon rescue, and the rock in her partner's world.

She is survived by her partner Jan Martin; brother Steve Horne; nephew Forrest Horne; two nieces and their spouses Erica and Alex Olson and their girls Olivia and Amelia; Chani and Dashawn Riggs, all of Colorado Springs, CO; aunt and uncle Jane and Rex Horne of Oklahoma City, OK; and many cousins and good friends. Her parents Roy W. and Beverly J. Horne of Enid, OK precede her in death.
