Eckerman, Lois Ann

Lois Ann Eckerman (Lo), 74, of Albuquerque, passed away on March 23, 2017.

She is survived by her sister, Nevlyn M. Eckerman; nephews, Nevin H. III and wife Amanda, of Mobile, AL. Nickolas P. and wife April, of Waynesboro, GA. Elliot W. and niece Rosemary L. both of Albuquerque.

Lo was born September 23, 1942 in Albuquerque to Nevin H. and Mary D. Eckerman.

She grew up on the Laguna Pueblo reservation and was an active member in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. After graduating from Valley H.S. in 1960, she attended school at BYU for a number of years before returning to New Mexico. Once back, she started work at Mountain Bell Communications and continued through the years meeting numerous friends and acquaintances until retiring from USWest after 30+ years of service to the company. Throughout that time she and her sister took up an interest in pottery and crafts. Together they opened the hearts of thousands by allowing guests into their home to view and share their knowledge of family history and southwest Indian culture.

Lo loved to travel, visiting all the contiguous United States as well as Europe over the years along with her and traveling companion, Spike (stuffed animal).

She will be dearly missed by her family and the countless friends she has encountered on her journey here with us.

Services will be held Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 10:30am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1100 Montano Rd NW. A visitation will begin at 9:30am for family and friends who wish to arrive early to share memories about a wonderful and generous woman.
