Lorraine Valles Obituary
Valles, Lorraine

Lorraine Catherine Valles peacefully passed away on June 29, 2016, surrounded by her family and the wonderful staff of the Lovelace Gentiva Hospice.

Lorraine was born in Denver, Colorado on September 11, 1921, to Claudio and Ophelia Romero. The family lived on the Navajo Reservation at the Round Rock Trading Post her father managed until Lorraine and her mother moved to New York to open a shop selling trading post wares. The family reunited in Tucson, Arizona where Lorraine graduated from Tucson High in 1940.

Lorraine married Henry Valles in 1941. Henry served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. They had three children, Claude, Mary and Anna after he returned. The family moved to Aztec, New Mexico in 1951 and Lorraine began working for the U.S. Postal Service. She lost her husband in 1976 and retired from the Postal Service in Albuquerque in 1982.

Lorraine enjoyed her life as a retired widow. She traveled the world and made many friends. She spent her winters in Mazatlan, Mexico. She was a volunteer driver for cancer services and taught English to immigrants. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas parish and the Catholic Daughters of America for thirty-seven years.

Lorraine is survived by her son Claude Valles; daughter Mary Kendzierski and her husband Kenneth, their son Patrick and his wife Shannon, and her second daughter Anna DeFelice and her husband Bob, their son Robert and daughter Angel and her husband Scott.

Lorraine lived a long and full life. She was brave and adventurous, quick witted and loved animals. Therefore the family asks those wishing to send flowers to make a donation to Animal Humane New Mexico, 615 Virginia St., SE, Albuquerque, 87108 instead.

Lorraine's funeral will be Thursday, July, 2016. There will be a visitation from 8:30 until 9:30 am at the Daniels Funeral Home Sara Rd. Chaepl. The funeral mass will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Rd., SE, at 10:30. The interment will be at Vista Verde Memorial Park next to the funeral home. There will be a reception afterwards at the home of Bob and Anna DeFelice of Corrales.
