Louis Erne departed his earthly body on November 18, 2017. He was a resident of Albuquerque since 1947. His wife, Norma Erne, predeceased him in 2006 as did his grandson, Maximilian Erne, in 2015.

Lou leaves behind his daughter, Peg Hughes; sons, Daniel Erne and Stuart Erne (Margay); grandsons, Seth Hughes (Bethany), Caleb Hughes, and Jacob Erne; nephew, Brad Potter; and dear friend Debra Cantu.

Lou served in the U.S.A.F.67th Reconnaissance Technical Squadron during the Korean War. Following the war, he worked as an industrial photographer for Sandia National Laboratories until his retirement. Lou was a proud and patriotic Veteran. He was truly a part of "The Greatest Generation".
