She transferred to Highlands University in Las Vegas, New Mexico, majoring in Business Education with a minor in English, graduating with a Bachelor of Business Education.

While living in Las Vegas, she met Theodore ("Ted") Roberts, who was also studying at Highlands University, and they married on April 5, 1944. Shortly thereafter, Ted served in the Army for two years during WWII. In 1948, daughter, Judith Helene, was born while they were there, and two years later they moved to Ft. Worth, TX, so Ted could attend Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. In 1952, they returned to Albuquerque, where Ted worked for the Baptist Convention of New Mexico, and their son, Daniel Kay, was born. In 1953, they moved to Roswell and Ted was employed by First Baptist Church there. Bo returned to teaching until their third child, Karla Rue, was born in 1956. In 1959, they returned to Albuquerque with Ted being on staff at First Baptist Church Albuquerque. Bo stayed home to raise the children and returned to substitute teaching as they got older. Then in 1966, the family moved to Lomita, CA, for Ted to be on staff at Narbonne Ave Baptist Church. Bo returned to full time teaching there for the next five years. In 1971, they returned to Albuquerque, where Ted was employed by the Baptist Convention of New Mexico as Business Administrator, and remained until Ted retired (1986) as well as 11 more years.
