Valdez, Lulu Maestas



On Christmas Eve Lulu Valdez joined our dad, Fidel in eternal rest. Lulu was born September 8th, 1934 to Ignacio and Adela Maestas. She graduated from Highlands and NMSU. Mom taught for 20 years, became Director of Federal Programs and retired as Principal of Sacramento. Mom loved volunteering, was a member of Altrusa, and Knights of Columbus Auxiliary.

She is survived by siblings, Adelita and Carlos Craig, Fabiola and Mike Esposito, Cassimiro Valdez, Eloy and Helen Valdez, Viola Martinez; daughters, Elizabeth, Fidencia Mina Valdez; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Father James B. Hay Catholic School or KC Scholarship Fund.

The Vigil will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 6:30 pm at Our Lady of the Light Catholic Church.

A Rosary for Lulu Valdez will be recited at 10:00 am on Wednesday, January 11 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection will follow the Rosary.

Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
