Otero, Luther J. (Lou)



Luther (Lou) J. Otero, age 84, was born February 20, 1933 and died on Tuesday May 9, 2017.

Lou was born and raised in Tucumcari NM, he moved to Albuquerque in 1959.

He was preceded in death by his mother Elisa Otero; father Abel Sena; brother Jimmy Cordova.

He is survived by his wife Viola of 59 years; daughters Yolanda Pickup (Rick) and Yvette Otero (Donnie); two granddaughters, Linda Lee and A'Lisa Krek; two great-granddaughters Aria Gonzales and Ivy Apodaca; and one great-grandson Artist Gonzales.

Lou was in the Air Force and then worked for Sandia Labs for 38 years. He was a very active member with the American Legion Post 13 for which he was the Commander for two terms.

Lou loved the horse races, Lobo Football and Basketball, and going to the Casino.

He was a very strong man who never stopped giving it all. He will be so deeply missed.

Rosary will be recited on Thursday at 9:30 am. Mass will be celebrated after the rosary at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church 5311 Phoenix Ave NE 87110.

Interment will follow at later date at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
