Wehrli, Lynn

Lynn Wehrli passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on June 18, 2017 (her birthday). Throughout the last months of her life, she continued to show us her remarkable spirit, never complaining, and thinking only of her family and their well-being.

The daughter of Robert and Jean Wehrli, Lynn was born in 1951, in Bremerton, WA, where her father was stationed with the Navy. The Wehrli's hail from Casper, WY. Two siblings will dearly remember Lynn. Her older sister, Beth Hughes and husband, Bill live in Salt Lake City. Her younger brother, Bryan Wehrli lives in Cedar Crest with his wife Judy Meeter. Lynn is survived by a loving and devoted son, Mason Robert Wehrli, his partner, Yvette Garcia, and their precious children, Mason Robert Wehrli II, and Kamilla Lynn Wehrli. Lynn raised her son as a single mom in Albuquerque. Lynn will be forever remembered by numerous and dear friends from Los Angeles to Washington, DC.

Lynn saw it as her obligation to make the world a better place. She was a scholar and a public servant. After graduating from Cornell, she earned graduate degrees at Yale & MIT. She devoted her entire career to making public housing more available and affordable. Working in a variety of non-profit, community & governmental agencies, she developed great expertise in large-scale public housing finance. She made lives better. In Albuquerque she worked for the NM Mortgage Finance Authority. She retired from HUD in 2016.

Lynn was a 'city girl,' and enjoyed the arts, jazz, cooking, travel, and books. She was elegant, energetic, curious, and above all, caring. Her life ended much too early, and we will miss her dearly.

Memorial services will be held at the Albuquerque Museum on Saturday, September 16, at 1:00 pm. Please feel free to visit Lynn's Facebook memorial.
