deVesty, Malcolm W. (Mac)



Mac deVesty, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great- grandfather died on his birthday at the age of 88, April 22, 2016.

Mac was a graduate of Syracuse University and Cornell Law School and a native of New Jersey. Mac moved to Albuquerque in 1954 with the Army as a lawyer in the office of the Staff Judge Advocate at Sandia Base. He then joined the Albuquerque City Attorney's Office. He was in private practice with the firm Franks and deVesty, served as a substitute Municipal Judge for many years and then returned to the City of Albuquerque for a total of 27 years.

Malcolm was preceded in death by his father, Malcolm, and mother, Marjorie and his sister Charmian Farley.

Malcolm is survived by his wife of 63 years, Geraldine; and his son, Mark; daughters, Karen and Sandra; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mac has been active in Civitan, an international service organization, holding all club and district offices and served as International Senior Vice-President. He has done extensive pro bono legal work for service organizations throughout the state.

Mac and Gerry traveled extensively to over 40 countries, producing beautiful slide shows for presentations. Mac was an avid golfer, jogger and belonged to the YMCA. He was an accomplished woodworker, designing and building furniture, including a cradle that this grandchildren and great-grandchildren still use.

A Life Celebration will take place at a later date. Please call Geraldine for information. Interment will take place Friday, April 29, 2016 at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
