DeCoste, Mamie June (Wong)



Mamie June (Wong) DeCoste passed peacefully in her home in Albuquerque on January 26, 2017. She was born in Boston, MA on Feb 20, 1927, to June and Chin Shee Wong.

Mamie was born to a large loving family of 12 children. She graduated from Quincy High School, in Quincy, MA, and worked as an operator for Bell Telephone and later in banking. An avid roller-skater, she met Francis (Buddy) DeCoste in the roller rink. They married in in Nov, 1948, and raised 4 children. They moved to Albuquerque in 1991 to retire. They traveled on cruise ships, and by RV around the USA. After nearly 50 years of marriage, Buddy died in September, 1998.

Mamie is survived by three brothers, Barry, Hoover and David Wong; four children, Denise DeCoste (Sam Gutter), Elaine Fiber (Frederick Fiber), Robin Jutkiewicz, and Mark DeCoste; seven grandchildren, Rachel, Bess, Jordan, Antonia, Alexandra, Aaron, Kara, and Tad; and three great-grandchildren, Esme, Brixton and Kingston.

Cremation has taken place and a Memorial with Internment will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at 10:00 A.M. at Vista Verde Memorial Park.
