Fresquez, Martha Gallegos

Our beloved mother, Martha Gallegos Fresquez, 97, passed away peacefully in her home on September 10, 2017 with her children at her side.

Born and raised in the small town of La Jara, Colorado, Martha became an avid ice skater, champion of the typewriter, and loved to ride horses. Her love of the land and animals carried on after her marriage to Dick Esequel Fresquez, a Rancher from Picacho, NM. He was the love of her life whom she called "Honey". She was a devoted wife and mother, a devout Catholic, active member of the Blue Army, Altar and Rosary Society, substitute teacher, election judge and school board member. She gave many years to volunteering at St. Felix Pantry in Rio Rancho and St. Anthony's kitchen in Bernalillo.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Dick E. Fresquez and her parents, Felix and Anita Gallegos, brothers Adolph, Raymond, Tony, Bert, Alfonso, and sisters Alice Valdez and Irene Valdez and her devoted son-in-law Terry D. Lewis and many nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her children, Art Fresquez and wife Lorena, children Matt and Lauren, Linda Fresquez, children Ricardo, Lisa, fiance Daniel and daughter Marissa, Loretta and husband Dan and children Isaac, Evan and Joseph, Helen Fresquez-Garcia and husband Paul, children Stephen, Gregory, Jacqueline and husband Adan, Rick Fresquez and wife Janet, children Jarrod, Rachel and husband Chris, Monica Fresquez-Lewis and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family is most appreciative of the kindness and love provided by her caregivers, Christine Benally and Luly Olivares as well as her hospice nurses. The family wishes to thank all those who offered prayers for our mother.

Rosary will be held at 6:30 PM, Thursday, September 14th, and the funeral Mass on Friday September 15th, 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, Bernalillo, NM. Daniels Mortuary, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124
