She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Combs Schott and husband, Marvin of Albuquerque; grandchildren: Mollie Combs McClellan and husband, Marty; and Jason Combs of Columbia, SC; Walter Ryan Gill; and Mary Gill Puccini and husband, David, of Albuquerque, NM; Katrina Schott McLin and husband, John of Charlotte, NC; and Amanda Schott Learn and husband, Tim of Louisville, KY; great-grandchildren: Ian McClellan, Bella Puccini, Lia Puccini, Henry Learn, and Fritz Learn; daughter-in-law, Margaret Combs; very dear niece, Mary Lou Combs Stockard and husband, Bill; and many other relatives and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Captain Harrison Tyler Combs Sr. (USN) Ret.; son, Harrison Tyler Combs, Jr.; brother, Charles Stebbins; and her cherished cats, Sugar and Sweetheart.

Mary was born in 1920 in Washington D.C. to Charles Rowland and Florence Stebbins. She met and married Harrison Combs in 1941 and accompanied him in their many moves throughout 39 years of active duty service. Mary was the "Captain's wife". She had many talents to include painting, sewing, and shopping at QVC! Once they retired, they followed their children, ending up in Albuquerque.

Mary had a long and productive life, was a strong positive example in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and now great-grandchildren. How lucky they are to have known their grandmother. She was a real fighter with a winning spirit! She was a beautiful woman both inside and out. Her love for family was greater than anything. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Graveside will be held at Arlington National Cemetery, at a later date, where she will be placed with her loving husband, Ty.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mary's name to the Animal Humane Society, 615 Virginia St SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108.
