Mary Kay Short Obituary
Short, Mary Kay

Mary Kay Short, 89, went home to be with Our Lord and Savior August 6, 2016 while surrounded by her loving family.

She was a strong Christian and a member of Netherwood Church of Christ. She enjoyed quilting and often was working on a quilt to give to a loved one. She loved to garden and especially loved roses and red flowers. She was always a leader in her family. From a young age she cared for and raised her siblings, later in life she was the main caregiver for her husband of 57 years. She viewed hard work as honorable, and was able to maintain her own garden even until age 78. She was affectionately called "Mamo" to all her grandchildren and shared her love for being in the outdoors with her family, taking them fishing, hunting, and camping. She loved dogs, especially small lap dogs. She struggled with Alzhiemer's the last ten years of her life, but it did not take her spirit.

She is survived by her daughters, Connie Tecklenburg and husband W.H. of Albuquerque, Becky Davis and husband Tom of Los Lunas, Dixie Cantrall and Husband Richard of Albuquerque, Brothers James Franzoy of Hatch, and Stanley Franzoy of T or C, sister Edith Boggs of Aloha, OR, grandchildren, Denise Romine, Bret Tecklenburg, Jennifier Davis, Jody Davis, Dean Cantrall, Chad Cantrall, and Kristina Coleman; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Viola Franzoy, husband Bill Short, brother Albert Franzoy Jr., daughter, Twilla Short, and granddaughter, Deann Cantrall.

A Memorial Service will be held at Netherwood Church of Christ 5101 Indian School Rd NE at 11:30 Wednesday, August 10, 2016. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Albuquerque Christian Children's Home, 5700 Winter Haven Rd NW, 87120 or (505) 898-5520.
