Mary Monte Vaio

Mary Monte Vaio, age 92, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2017 in Austin, Texas where she resided with her daughter for the past year.

She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Vaio, her son Raymond Paul Vaio, her parents George and Rose Monte, and her seven brothers and sisters.

Mary was born in Jackson Mississippi on April 22, 1925. She grew up in Omaha Nebraska and eventually joined her family in Albuquerque, New Mexico where she lived for over seventy years. Widowed at a very early age, Mary raised her two children and cared for her sister. Family was undeniably the most important part of her life and her house was always the hub of celebrations and daily visits for family to gather. She was an incredible cook and everyone longed for a coveted spot at her Sunday table for spaghetti dinner.

An astute business woman, Mary along with her husband Raymond and brother George, owned and operated M&R liquors in Albuquerque. Her passionate personality was reflected by her love of Norte Dame Football and on game days her house was filled with cheering and lighted candles in hopes of an all-important win,

Mary is survived by her daughter Elizabeth of Austin, daughter-in-law Lynn and granddaughters Brianna, Kristina and Taylor, sister-in-law Peggy Monte, numerous nieces and nephews and a very special friend John whose selflessness, compassion and care will never be forgotten. She was the integral part of her family and will be missed deeply by all.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Alliance Home Health Care - 5981 Jefferson Road NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87109.

Services and entombment will be held Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 10:00 am at Gate of Heaven.
