Matthew P. Bustos Obituary
Bustos, Matthew P.

12/30/83 - 4/08/16

Matthew Bustos, dearly loved son of Phillip and Joan Bustos, died as the result of an accidental drug overdose, like so many others in Albuquerque.

Matthew is survived by his younger sisters, Aimee Bustos and Lisa Bustos Meehan; brother-in-law Terry Meehan; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Many times Matthew fought against his addiction, but ultimately it took his life. Yet this evil did not win. We grieve deeply but with hope because Matthew believed and received the salvation offered to him by Jesus Christ. His adventurous, playful, tender-hearted spirit will be missed every day, and he will always remain in the hearts of the many who loved him unconditionally.

If you are ENSNARED in the web of addiction, PLEASE take the first step by admitting YOU ARE POWERLESS over addiction and GET HELP! It takes immense bravery and courage to take that step, but in doing so you will spare your loved ones and yourself the great sorrow that is now ours.

We are grateful for the outpouring of love, prayer, and support of our family and friends, the comfort we have in our risen Savior, Jesus Christ, and the assurance that we'll see our beloved Matthew, freed from his burdens, soon.

Cremation has taken place. A commemoration of Matthew's life will take place later this summer.

In memory of Matthew, the Bustos family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the CNM Foundation for the LJR Foster Care Youth Endowment or CNM Foundation, 525 Buena Vista Dr. SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106.
