Melissa Savoie Obituary
Savoie, Melissa Felder

2/24/1955 - 3/27/2016

"I am strong, concerned about everything but worried about nothing. I know it is not about me."

A life long resident of Albuquerque, Melissa, passed away Easter Sunday of a heart attack after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her mom, Barbara, her brother, Brad, and her grandparents Gene and Alice Barnett. She is survived by her son, Shilo, and daughter Matise, Matise's daughter, Freya; brother, Scott Felder; sister, Kathy Runyun; and cousins Gene, Carl, Jack Barnett and Brenda Seybold.

Melissa was a graduate of Manzano HS 1973, UNM 2009 in Criminal Justice. Her passions were her children, cats, cooking, dinner with the gals, nature, and classic cars. It was obvious her first love was her God. Her faith guided her through a very challenged life. Throughout her life Melissa was a contractor specializing in playground development, worked for American Express, and tried her hand in the recording industry in California. Currently she was part owner of New Vision House, A transitional living facility for men re-entering Society from incarceration. Melissa often said "Every human needs to feel the love of another."

The family is touched and grateful for the outpouring of love coming from friends and also from the men who she helped at New Vision House, as well as their families.

Her cremation has already taken place. Her life will be celebrated on Friday, April 15 at 7:00 PM at Washed By the Word Church, 4228 Carlisle NE. Services will be led by a long time friend, Chaplain, Shirley Compton. In Lieu of flowers please make a donation to Wings For Life international, 2220D Wyoming Bl NE #130, Albuquerque 87112. Wings is a local ministry for families of those who are incarcerated.
