Michael Angelo Del Mastro

Michael Angelo Del Mastro passed away on Feb. 24, 2018. He was born Dec. 1, 1929 in Akron, OH to Nunzario and Pia Del Mastro. Michael was the only son, with three sisters, Celeste, Caroline and Josephine, who preceded him in death. Michael was proud of his roots in Foggia, Italy where he spent years growing up before returning to the U.S. For many years Michael helped support his family as a carpenter while his sisters attended college. He then attended UNM, graduating with a Bachelor's of Architecture in 1973. Michael became a well known New Mexico architect. He was recognized with an Albuquerque street named for him. Michael married Janice Croy on Jun. 28, 1958. They had one son, Andrew Del Mastro. Michael also had a granddaughter, Kirsten Del Mastro and a great-grandson, Demacio Del Mastro. After his 1994 retirement Michael volunteered at the Metropolitan Detention Center, ministering to inmates, praying and delivering communion. His hobbies included fishing, dancing, and singing. Michael had the kindest heart; he showed dedication, loyalty and love to his family and others. Services will be at Risen Savior, 7701 Wyoming, Fri., Mar. 2, 10 am, followed by a reception, then burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
