Micheline Bell Obituary
Bell, MichelineMarie Yvonne L'Homme

Micheline Marie Yvonne L'Homme Bell, aged 92, died peacefully

and not alone on Sunday August 14th 2016 at 2:02 pm.

Our mother was born and raised by her parents, Germaine and Joseph, in the 20th Arrondissement in Paris, France. She married an American GI, Frank H. Bell, after the Liberation of Paris in 1945. Frank was part of the Normandy invasion on June 6th. She travelled alone to the States in a 'paquebot' (trans-Atlantic ocean liner) to join her husband in Ohio. Her globe-trotting days had just begun! As a chemical engineer in agronomy, Frank worked worldwide, and their first destination was Lima, Peru. Mom was so artistic! She was a local theater actress, did oil paintings, dressed like nobody's business and designed and sewed a fashion clothing line for Nique's first doll. From neighboring Chile, the Bells adopted their three (surviving) children, Nique, Allan and Veronica. Next was a quick four-year jaunt in Tokyo, where she excelled at enameling, on copper and cloisonne! Next to Barcelona, Spain with more painting and enameling and finally to Ottawa, Canada, becoming a bilingual translator.

In later life, Micheline moved near Windsor, Ontario to be close to Veronica and her two grandchildren, Julia and Shyanne. In 2013, her last move brought her to Albuquerque NM to be near Nique. In these later years, after being taught by her grandmother at age 3, she threw herself into knitting beautiful sweaters, scarves and blankets!

She is survived by her brother's son Jean-Claude, and his family, Agnes and Pierre; Nique's wife, Sylvie; Allan's wife, Beth; and the wonderful staff, caregivers and many friends that took her under their wing.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Brookdale, located at 300 Valencia SE, Albuquerque NM on Sunday, Sept. 11 starting at 2:00 pm. Please join us.
