Marpel, Nelda LuAnn



Nelda LuAnn Marpel went to be with her Lord January 9, 2017 with her family beside her after valiantly battling ALS. She was born August 20, 1944 in Stafford, KS, the eldest child of Ralph and Luella Ardrey.

She is survived by Dwight her husband of 44 years; son, Brian Eric; daughter, Stacey Eileen; sisters, Lynda Gompert and Judy Marshall; sister-in-law, Marion Ardrey; brothers-in-law, Kent Gompert and Harley Marpel; sister-in-law, Elaine Marpel, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Lance Ardrey; her brother-in-law, Brent Marshall.

Known to all as LuAnn, her chosen profession as an office administrator was a perfect fit for her personality. She held many administrative jobs throughout her career, and she performed each with efficiency, proficiency, grace and poise. She was an avid gardener, a voracious reader and an excellent cook, as well as a cheerful and faithful friend. For 21 years she served her church family at Netherwood Park Church of Christ as an administrative assistant. She performed each of her many roles to the glory of her Lord.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Netherwood Park Church of Christ, 5101 Indian School Rd NE, Albuquerque, NM. Interment will follow at Vista Verde Memorial Park, 4310 Sara Rd SE, Rio Rancho, NM. Donations may be made to the ALS Association, New Mexico chapter, to assist others in their struggle.
