Padilla, Nick

Nick Padilla, age 87, our loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, died peacefully at home, surrounded by his loved ones and entered into heaven on Monday, February 15, 2016. He was born in Puerto de Luna, New Mexico on March 20, 1928 and later moved to Santa Fe, after serving in the US Army and Navy where he met his beautiful wife, Clarabelle. They were married in 1952 and made Albuquerque their home.

Nick was preceded in death by his father Abran Padilla; mother, Ricarda Luna; step-father, Thomas Luna; brother, Max Luna and wife Pat and brother-in-law John Block. Nick is survived by his loving wife, Clarabelle; son, Robert Padilla; daughters, Sylvia Gonzales and husband Manuel, Lucille Ortiz and husband Joe, Gloria Padilla and Ida Padilla; eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren all of the Albuquerque area; brothers, Abe Padilla and wife Francis of Rio Rancho, Thomas Luna and wife Leora of Albuquerque; sisters, Terry Cruz and husband Barney and Eloisa Block all of Santa Fe; as well as many other family members and friends who loved and will miss him.

Nick was employed by Sandia National Laboratory for 30 years where he retired as a Communications Specialist. He was a longtime Usher and Parishoner and Queen of Heaven Parish. As well, Nick had a passion for camping, fishing and the Casinos.

Services will be held at Queen of Heaven Parish, 5311 Phoenix Ave. NE. near San Mateo and Menaul, on Tuesday, February 23, 2016. A Rosary will be recited at 12:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm. Interment will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 3:00 pm with US Navy Honors.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Marcos Ortiz, Angelo Lopez, Crystal Ortiz, Peter Ortiz, Robert Padilla, Joey Ortiz, Julian, Antonio, Daniel and Natalie Gonzales and Janelle Padilla.
