Patricia Stubblefield Obituary
Stubblefield, Patricia Ann

Patricia Ann Horton Stubblefield, 88, a 60-year resident of The Heights neighborhood in Albuquerque, died peacefully in her sleep August 25, 2016 11:30pm in her home, Constance House Assisted Living Center. She was born in Newburgh, IN on July 21, 1928. She grew up in Warrick County, IN and attended Stephens College in Columbia, MO.

Proceeding her in death were her husband of 44 years Curtis (Stubby) Stubblefield (died 1992 age 76), her parents Paul Horton (died 1954 age 59) and Vivian Crowder Horton Kirkpatrick (died 1977 age 79), her stepfather Fred Kirkpatrick (died 1988 age 93), her daughter Lisa (died 2011 age 50), her brother Robert Bruce Horton (died 1926 age 3), and her sister Jeanne Elaine Horton Woodward (died 1988 age 67), and three cousins Henrietta Crowder Campbell, Merlin Baker, and Sue Crowder Orsburn.

She is survived by her cousin Robert Crowder of Tiburon, CA; nephew Richard Woodward of Cedar Rapids, IA; and nieces Nancy Woodward of Ferndale, CA; and Janet Woodward May of San Jose, Costa Rica; and numerous grand nieces and nephews.

Pat was a member of Eastern Star and an expert seamstress. She enjoyed cooking and reading. She and Lisa were abiding friends to every cat in the neighborhood. Pat's close friend Deanna Patterson recalls her always seeing the best in everyone; she was very gracious, and she laughed easily. Pat's nieces and nephew especially enjoy memories of visits from Illinois during summers in the '50's, their beautiful Aunt Pat driving them around town to the swimming pool, top-down in her Buick Roadmaster convertible.

The family extends special thanks to Michael Knieriam, Patricia's constant neighbor, loving friend, and diligent guardian. Thanks also to the staff of Constance House who in her final three years kindly encouraged Patricia in maintaining her pleasant disposition. As her mental faculties declined, her instinctual good nature shown through.
