Paul S. Self, born June 2, l920 to John Spencer and Edna Permelia Self in Eastland, Texas, died December 17, 2015 in Rio Rancho, N.M. He grew up and attended school in Kansas City.

He had two brothers Guy and Spencer and two sisters Alta and Pauline, who along with his parents all predeceased him, as well as first wife Laura.

He was a tail-gunner on a B-17 in WW2, flying 51 missions out of England and N. Africa, earning several medals including the Distinguished Flying Cross. After duty overseas he was a gunnery instructor for the Air Force in Louisiana until his discharge as a SSgt. In l945, He transferred from Dallas to Albuq. as shop foreman for Rainbo Baking Co. in l950. After leaving Rainbo he worked for Navajo Freight, Prudential Ins. Co. and finally became secretary of Temple Lodge #6, A.F,&A.M. in 1966 after having been W. Master of that lodge in 1963, and retired after l8 years. He enjoyed retirement for a while and then "for something to do" he became a shuttler for National Car Rental for 6 1/2 years. Paul had been active for many years in Masonic circles - Blue Lodge, Scottish Rite, Eastern Star, Jobs Daughters and Rainbow Girls.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years Betty of Rio Rancho; son Randy of Rio Rancho; daughter Sheila of Albuq; step-daughter Raeann of Las Vegas, NV; four grandchildren, Lisa Julie, Brian and Marisa; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Temple Lodge #6 at 3801 Osuna N.E. on December 22, 2015 at 2:00 p.m.
