Crespin, Pearl

Pearl Crespin, age 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 6, 2017, with her loving daughter and caretaker, Betty, by her side. Pearl was born August 28, 1930 in Albuquerque to Ramon and Clotilde Maez.

She is survived by her ex-husband Rudy, daughters Betty and Pat, four grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchild, Ashlyn, who helped her open her presents on her last Christmas eve, siblings Raymond, Susie, Viola, and Helen, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Delfino, Maggie, and Kiki, special great- granddaughter Desiree and her beloved son Rudy.

Pearl was a youth counselor for many years at YDDC and was affectionately called "Grandma Pearl". Over the years, she would encounter many of "her boys" who would thank her for helping them get their lives back on track. She suffered many illnesses in her life but despite her small size, she was very strong and always fought through them with the help of her deep faith and her lifetime caretaker, Betty Jean. Her passions were baking and cooking, especially making tortillas and red chile for her hitos, Ernie and Amy. Everyone looked forward to her tamales, red chile, and biscochitos throughout the year. She loved having visitors, was forgiving and generous to a fault and was always very giving to friends and neighbors. Her heroes were Mother Theresa and Father Pio. She loved her family and suffered greatly over the loss of everyone who passed before her. "Li'l One" you will be greatly missed.

Pearl will be escorted to her final resting place by pallbearers Rudy Crespin, Ernie Maurino, Amy Maurino, Jeff Hall, Lorenzo Tapia, Paul Tanenbaum, Rudy Ortega, and Lou Golson.

Pearl's Life Celebration will begin with a Rosary on Monday, January 16, 2017 at 6:00 PM at Salazar Mortuary. A Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd., NE. Interment will follow at Mt. Cavalry Cemetery. A reception will follow at Salazar Mortuary Life Event Center.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to all the Gentiva Hospice staff whose dedication, compassion and care will never be forgotten.
