Pearl Shapiro Obituary
Shapiro, Pearl

Pearle Shapiro, 85, a 57 year resident of Albuquerque, passed away on the 8th of July, 2016. She was the daughter of Marcus and Esther Susman, sister of Jackwell and Jeffrey Susman, and the beloved wife of Louis J Shapiro for the last 63 years.

She grew up in Pittsburgh, PA and celebrated her marriage to her childhood friend, Louie, on March 29th, 1953, one day before her birthday on March 30th. Pearle and Louie had attended grade school and high school together in Pittsburgh. In 1959 Louis and Pearle moved with their three children from Cleveland, Ohio to Albuquerque where Louis started his podiatry practice and she cared for the children and made the best blintzes in NM. She was an avid and excellent baker and loved to entertain her many friends and the many strangers who Louie would invite to the house to enjoy Pearle's cooking. Everybody always left a friend. She won many ribbons for her baking at the NM State Fair and enjoyed trying new recipes out on friends and family. She enjoyed arts and crafts and took many classes in cooking, watercolors, and craft projects and was an accomplished Bridge player. She loved traveling the world with Louie and taking care of her grandchildren.

Pearle passed away after a short battle with Alzheimers.

Pearle is survived by her husband of 63 years, Louis; and their four children, Scot Alan, Michael Jay, Faith Carin, and Lori Sue; grandchildren, Kelsy, Lindsy, Alexa, Mitchell, Jake, Garrett, and Anya; and her great grandchildren, Roman and Amelia.
