Phyllis "Marge" Berg

Phyllis "Marge" Berg, 83 years old, was brought home by our Lord 3/10/2018. Born in New Britain, CT, to Phillip and Margaret Paladino, in her early years she attended a one room school house in Rocky Hill, CT. She graduated with full honors from Wethersfield HS, CT. This wonderful, talented lady married Benjamin Berg in 1974.

Her career spanned 40 plus years working for two governors in CT, Tom Meskill and Ella Grasso. Her duties included many office assignments (two were secretary), and hostess at State functions. For a shy lady, she was very business like when called on. She also worked at the State of CT lottery commission, and the CT juvenile courts. In her various positions in many of her jobs, she maintained software, documents to the federal government, trained all new personnel, and self taught on all new office equipment.

She is survived by husband, Ben; inlaws in NY and CT; two sisters, Jo Hedges and Elaine Wutsch, CT; six children, Barbara Ivey, GA, Robert Sylvester, twins, Dennis and David Sylvester, Danny Sylvester, CT, and William Sylvester, NM; grandchildren, Nichole, Zachary, Jacob, Kami, and Jeffery Sylvester, CT, Sara and Billy Sylvester, NM; and great-grandchildren, Ilaya and Aceson Sylvester, Renaka and Angelina Lauhoff, NM.

She'll be missed by all her friends in the Italian clubs NM and in the quilting and sewing groups. She was a "master quilter," giving away her beautiful quilts to charities and family - hundreds of dollars worth. A very exceptional baker and cook, her biscotti recipes are now used far and wide in this country. "Marge" touched many lives and gave unselfishly of herself to all in need, especially children and the handicapped. Not many know she was a three time cancer survivor.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 21, 10:00 am, at First Baptist Church, 3906 19th Ave. SE (across from Intel), Rio Rancho, NM 87124, (505) 892-1323.
